Fitness article shows benefits for everyone

To the editor:

I am a sixth-grade student at Forsyth School and am very glad to see that an article was devoted to health and fitness [Jan. 6-20, 2010]. It will help people recognize what others are doing and will feel tempted to join.

For instance, my mom’s friend suggested that she should try out a boot camp. She went to an auction and bought a set of classes. I like that you mentioned that boot camps are short and intense. Most people say that they do not have enough time to work out.

But, because boot camps are short, they have no excuse to skip boot camp. I have two sisters, one of them being 3 years old. My mom does boot camp because it is not very long and she does not have to worry too much about getting behind on housework.

Also, the section on boomer programs was a good point. The part about how exercise will lower blood pressure and cholesterol in my opinion was a good one. It just shows them how important exercise is.

My grandfather is 80 years old and he still goes to the Clayton Center to work out. My other grandfather walks many miles each day. In the summertime, he will play catch with me.

In addition, when my great grandfather was 95, he did yoga. He is still living at age 97. This just shows how important exercise is. This article is very effective and will convince many people that exercise is important.

Matthew Royce,

Clayton
