Five years ago, St. Louis' MetroLink light rail system took a great leap forward with a new line that connected St. Louisans for the first time by rail to exotic locales such as Maplewood, Richmond Heights and Shrewsbury.
For the fourth time in as many years, St. Louisans will unite to dance aboard the trains in the off-beat, one-of-a-kind MetroLink Prom. Why do this year after year? Because MetroLink — and public transit in general — makes St. Louis a more accessible city. Now, with the Blue Line in place, St. Louis can experience its resurgent, historic urban core as well as its thriving inner ring suburbs in just a few stops.
Dress in the finest attire — try to wear something blue — and meet at the MetroLink Forest Park/DeBaliviere Station on Friday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. Participants will be directed from there. After arriving at Shrewsbury Station, the night's finest dressed participants (blue-themed formal wear or costumes) will be crowned with the title of Prom King and Prom Queen before returning to Skinker Station.
