Internationally-know sculptor Harry Weber's eight-foot bronze statue of rock and roll legend Chuck Berry was installed Friday, July 1, in the plaza at 6555 Delmar Blvd., across from Blueberry Hill, in University City.

Joe Edwards, Loop developer and founder of the St. Louis Walk of Fame; and Charlie Brennan, KMOX and Donnybrook broadcaster, spearheaded a campaign to raise $100,000 to fund the project.

"Harry Weber's wonderful in-motion sculpture does justice to the first person inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," said Edwards. "Chuck Berry, known as the 'Father of Rock and Roll,' has influenced culture around the world."

The public is invited to a dedication ceremony for the statue on Friday, July 29. At 9:30 a.m. will be the Centennial Greenway Ribbon Cutting to officially launch a new bicycle and pedestrian path; statue dedication is at 10 a.m., at the plaza, 6555 Delmar Blvd.
