Joe Edwards was recently elected president of The Loop Special Business District in the city of St. Louis.
He recently stepped down as president of the University City Special Business District. Edwards, who continues to serve on the University City SBD board, said he looks forward to co-chairing meetings with new U. City SBD President Jessica Bueler. They have worked together several years already on various events, such as the Loop Ice Carnival and on attracting creative new businesses to The Loop.
The Loop has two special business districts (SBD) because half of the six-block restaurant, shopping and arts & entertainment district is in St. Louis County (University City) and half is in the City of St. Louis which is its own county.
The Loop is a fine example of a community bridging the artificial city-county border, said Bueler.
"The Loop is more unified than ever as we address new challenges," she said "I'm delighted at Joe's election. His institutional knowledge and love of St. Louis are valuable assets. We feel very positive about the future of this unique St. Louis destination neighborhood."
