Dozens of well-wishers braved rainy skies on Sunday, March 11, for the unveiling of the newest addition to Writers’ Corner in the Central West End.

A bronze bust of author Kate Chopin was installed on the northwest corner of Euclid and McPherson avenues, opposite busts of authors Tennessee Williams and T.S. Eliot on their respective corners. All three writers had ties to the Central West End.

The bust, by sculptor Jaye Gregory, was made possible by the Central West End Association (CWEA) and a donation from the estate of the late Veljko Jellech.

Addressing the crowd were CWEA President Doug Teasdale; CWE resident and Virginia Publishing Co. owner Jeff Fister; writer Patricia Rice and Gregory. Relatives of Kate Chopin were in attendance for the unveiling.
