Tom and Lori Hargrove of Kirkwood announce the engagement of their daughter, Ellen, to Matthew Bowden, son of Eric and Laura Bowden of Omaha, Neb. Ellen is a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Matthew is working towards his master's degree in Athletic Training at Missouri State University. Ellen and Matthew met and began dating during their freshman year at Truman State University. They will be married at the Savoy Ballroom in Springfield on June 1, 2018.

St. Louis lawyer and Webster Groves resident Morry Cole, an attorney at Gray, Ritter & Graham, P.C., was elected the 2017-18 president of The Missouri Bar on Sept. 13. Cole graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2013. Cole is a past chair of the state bar's Young Lawyers' Section Council and served on the board in 2002-03 as the representative of that council. His practice is focused on complex litigation in state and federal courts.
Andy Ryan, a 1989 Webster Groves High School graduate, was recently selected for inclusion in "The Best Lawyers in America 2018" in the field of Product Liability Litigation – Defendants. This is the third consecutive year he has received this recognition. Ryan is a shareholder at Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. He lives in Webster Groves with his wife Amy and his sons Joe and Abe.

Shrewsbury resident Rebecca L. Bragg, Pharm.D., BCPS recently received the 2017 St. Louis College of Pharmacy Faculty Member of the Year Award from the Missouri Pharmacy Association. This award is presented annually to one faculty member at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, School of Pharmacy and to one faculty member at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy for their contributions to the practice of pharmacy. Bragg is an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She is a clinical pharmacy specialist at the Internal Medicine Outpatient clinic at SSM Health-St. Mary's Hospital. Her teaching, research and patient care activities focus on diabetes management, health care disparities, transitions of care and interprofessional education.

This summer, Kirkwood High School senior Annie Bryan graduated from the 2017 Students and Teachers as Research Scientists (STARS) summer program at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Bryan, along with 96 other local high school seniors, participated in the six-week summer program. Students were paired with more than 60 local scientists in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, earth science, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, medicine, physics and psychology.
Webster Groves attorney John Clayton Schleiffarth has been selected to the 2017 Missouri and Kansas Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. This is the third year in a row that he has received this award. Schleiffarth was selected last year as a finalist by St. Louis magazine for Lawyer Of The Year. He practices in the field of criminal defense and DWI defense.

Kirkwood High School senior Benjamin Bauer earned Eagle Rank and was presented with the Eagle Court of Honor Award on May 10, 2017. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 981 from Kirkwood. For Bauer's Eagle Scout Leadership Project he planned the design of a flagpole installation project at the Jefferson Barracks AT&T Museum in Jefferson Barracks County Park. He led a group of volunteers to install the dedicated memorial bricks on the museum site. He also regraded and cleaned up the landscape around the area.

Former Webster Groves resident Bill Dahlin's 90th Birthday Party was held at the Hearth Room at Hawken House this summer. Attending this gala were his wife, Anna, and her family; Bill's six children: Debbie (WGHS '69) and Sam Pepple of Lawrence, Kansas; Ron (WGHS '71) and JoAnne Dahlin of Suwanee, Ga.; Cathy (WGHS '73) and Larry (WGHS '72) Bononi of Kirkwood; Sandy (WGHS '74) and Kevin Reed of Winfield, Mo.; Tom and Susan Dahlin of Creve Coeur; and Julie and Steve Gizinski of Haymarket, Va. Plus, 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren came in from across the country to bless "Gramps" on his big day. Bill and Anna reside in Chesterfield. The event was catered by Freddie's Market, owned by Larry Bononi.
