Celebrate 100 Years Of Girl Scouting Downtown Sept. 22

Parade kicks off at 11 a.m. on Market

September 11, 2012
Get ready to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting. The BIG Day commemoration event will be held downtown St. Louis on Saturday, Sept. 22, beginning at 11 a.m. It will feature free activities for kids of all ages, a parade and a celebrity concert featuring Disney stars.

"I am thrilled to invite everyone in the community to this free, fun-filled day," said Donna Martin, CEO of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. "We know when young people have fun they learn; while they're having fun at the BIG Day they will be learning about leadership, values and what Girl Scouting offers everyone in eastern Missouri."

The day will start off with a parade marching down Market Street from 18th to Broadway at 11 a.m. After the parade, the Family Festival kicks off at 1 p.m., with activities for the whole family, including a Ferris wheel that will provide fantastic views of downtown. There will be many food options at FamFest as wells. Local sports mascots Fredbird and Louie, of the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues, will be on hand to take photos.

The celebration will wrap up at 5:30 p.m. with a family-friendly concert. For more information about the BIG Day celebration, visit www.girlscoutsem.org.
