Film Explores Musical Roots Of U. City

Meet the filmmaker Friday, Sept. 21 at U. City Library

September 12, 2012
On Friday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m., visit the University City Public Library auditorium to explore the historical cultivation of musical talent in University City residents since the city's founding.

Documentarian and U. City native Rod Milam will show footage he has captured over the past 18 months in 17 U.S. states and territories for "The University City Musician Documentary Project."

The current section of the project, "Sounding The Chord," is the discovering and chronicling of as many people as possible who have lived in U. City, gone to the public schools for at least a year, and been paid professional musicians or music professionals for at least a year of their lives.

The evening is scheduled to include live performances from some of the project's subjects and a photo exhibit of some of the more than 90 U. Citians documented so far. Learn more about the project at www.soundingthechord.com.

The University City Public Library is located at 6701 Delmar Blvd, at the west end of the U. City Loop. For more information about the program, visit www.ucpl.lib.mo.us; email pjwall@ucpl.lib.mo.us; or call the library at 727-3150.
