Community Cinema Series Begins Sept. 5 At Missouri History Museum

Segments from "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide," a landmark documentary miniseries, kick off the sixth season of the Nine Network's Community Cinema Series at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.

The monthly series presents documentaries for free and includes a post-screening discussion. All screenings are on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

The films come from the weekly documentary television series Independent Lens, which returns to Nine PBS in November. Upcoming Community Cinema films include:

• "Half The Sky" (Sept. 5)

• "As Goes Janesville" (Oct. 3)

• "Solar Mamas" (Nov. 7)
